Psychology Internship Coaching & Mentorship

Navigate the Match with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Expert guidance from a psychologist who served as Clinical Director and Chief Psychologist of an APA-accredited doctoral psychology internship program, and who has experienced the Match process — as an applicant, and as someone who has reviewed hundreds of applications.

Dr. Prabha Menon

Both sides of the Match.

  • Psy.D., American School of Professional Psychology, Argosy University, Washington DC
  • APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship, Maryland
  • 25+ years in clinical practice, assessment & supervision
  • Former Chief Psychologist & Clinical Director, APA-Accredited Internship Program
  • Led 3 successful APA accreditation renewal cycles
  • Reviewed hundreds of applications annually for 20+ years
  • Multi-country clinical experience across children, adolescents & families

I'm a licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience in clinical practice, psychological assessment, psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and psychology training. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, families, and multidisciplinary teams across multiple countries.

Like every psychology trainee, I experienced the uncertainty, self-doubt, and anticipation that comes with the internship Match process. I remember wondering whether my application would stand out, whether I would interview well, and whether I would match with a program that aligned with my professional goals. Those experiences have stayed with me.

For more than two decades, I served in a Maryland state facility providing residential and day treatment services for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders — holding roles including Training Director, Director of the Diagnostic Unit, Clinical Director and Chief Psychologist of the APA-accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program. I also helped lead the program through three successful APA accreditation renewal cycles.

"What makes my coaching unique is that I've experienced the Match process from both sides. I know what it feels like to be the applicant — and I understand what training directors are looking for because I've been responsible for evaluating applications, interviewing candidates, and mentoring interns."

My goal is to help you show up as yourself, at your best. It's to help you communicate your experiences with clarity, confidence, and authenticity — so that your application reflects the psychologist you have worked so hard to become.

Supporting student success alongside your faculty.

Complementing Faculty Support

My workshops and consultations are designed to align with and reinforce faculty guidance — solidifying key messages, addressing practical questions, and helping students create strong applications and confident interview skills. This is about building on what faculty already provide, not replacing it.

Saving Faculty Time

Providing comprehensive internship application preparation demands substantial time from faculty and DCTs — time pulled away from teaching, supervision, and research. Applications are deeply personal and typically require multiple iterations. My workshops streamline this process while enhancing quality and consistency.

Long-Lasting Impact

The strategies, skills, and confidence students gain extend well beyond Match Day — supporting their readiness for postdoctoral fellowships, jobs, and long-term career development. The internship Match is one milestone; the professional identity they develop carries forward.

An Inside Perspective

Most doctoral programs have outstanding match rates. This workshop series adds an experienced, current inside perspective — recognizing the most common and costly mistakes in both written applications and interviews, and helping students thrive rather than merely survive this important milestone.
